Hand breaks are a common problem on older cars

But since the invention of the electric starter it has become less common place

I get the feeling you'll get more comments on your spelling than the topic in hand.

But yes, I find it quite unpleasant to sit behind a car with its brake lights on in a queue of traffic; especially modern cars with obscenely bright LED light clusters.

Brakes. I expect it may be something to do with the increasing use of horrible electric 'emergency brakes' which nobody can be bothered to use.

I've never seen a car that was fitted with a handbreak.

Bloody hell, even managed a title edit. Impressive biggrin

I don't mind brake lights being on in front of me when stationery (or is it stationary?) during the day but it's just inconsiderate when it gets dark. Most people don't think about their driving though and so don't bother to think whether what they're doing is inconsiderate even though they'd probably complain if somebody infront of them did it.

Do I notice that more and more cars don't seem to need a handbrake anymore, just judging by the number I see sitting on the footbrake and blinding those behind them with their ever so bright LED brakelights.
Have you been to an optician recently?

Spoil sport

We now have to have another tedious topic from those with defective eyeballs that get burnt out by a light bulb.

Can we get this moved in health matters?

Oooh, first "blinding brake lights thread of the year"!

How about looking anywhere else other than staring at the lights in front of you? You can tell by the glare that you don't need to look forwards, so use the time to look somewhere less blinding instead.

Or you can stop further back, because less light/fewer photons will hit you in the eye if you are further back (unless they have upgraded to lasers for brake lights).

To avoid a broken hand, one must keep the thumb above the starting handle, and not grip it as one would otherwise be tempted to do.

In this way, one can avoid hand breaks.

Another one who should've gone to Specsavers. They could make a fortune here...

Yeah, it's all gone a bit weird now.

I'd re-read the OP now I've found my reading glasses, but it isn't there any more.

Unless it is, and my reading glasses are broken. Anyone know an optician?

Sat behind a new Audi A7 the other night and the high level LED brake light on that was seriously bright. To the point it was hurting my eyes (although could also have had something to do with how knackered I was).

As for looking away, bit hard in traffic when every other pleb has their foot attached to the brake pedal because using the hand/electric parking brake is too much hard work.
