Look very tempting, especially the Yamaha YST 1000.
A few years old now but a lot cheaper than the newer ones which seem rather pricey.
Reviews of the period seem very good.

The YST800 seems to be a lot cheaper and also gets good reviews.

Cheers guys.

PS it's a sound projector not just sound bar i'm interested in.

They can sound good when set up well.

But from memory they need walls to reflect the sound off to give the pseudo surround effect.

Personally I prefer the Polk passive sound bars with a seperate processor amp. And they don't need a wall to reflect the sound off.

Assuming you mean YSP 1000 and not YST, you may be disappointed. They were one of the first units released, and were less than impressive (IMO). I sold mine after a few months. They're big, heavy, and I'm sure there are better options out there, given the march of technology in the interim. I also found that they were very sensitive to positioning.

Probably get one on eBay for £100-ish if you want one though. I got £150 about 4 years ago. Cost around £900 though!!

Correct it was the YSP-1000.
Picked one up to have a play with for £165 including wall mount kit, all boxed and like new so worth a play.

Initially play and i'm rather impressed, audio really doesn't appear to come from the box at all, left surround is particularly surreal. You can stare at where it would be if it was real and still appears to come from there. Right not so good, possibly due to the window being there perhaps.

An almost total lack of bass compared to the Rega Juras which are my main speakers, luckily i have an old REL Q50 lurking in the loft which i will dig out and fiddle with over next few days.

If i had paid just over under a grand i wouldn't be impressed i suspect but for well under £200, so far i am!

Bit more tweaking and it's getting there, just can't get the right hand surround right.
Slightly odd echo effect to centre effect.
Currently it's just sitting on a shelf in front of the TV, blocking the bottom inch or so. Suspect it will work better on a wall, but that involves decorating and bigger TV!
Will subject it to the wife test later.
