Toyo T1Rs on wifes Cooper S mini?
Discussion
Wife has Pirelli Run Flats all round on 17",and to be honest the ride is all over the place, tramlining, scatty under accelleration, feels like driving on slippery surface at speed!!
Been told the RF are too stiff for good handling, and people have changed to normal tyres and its as good as cured it?
Thinking of swopping to the Toyos and selling the RF's,anyone one know any reason why i shouldnt
Cheers

My Wife has run 2 previous cooper s's and is now on a third which is a convertible. If you do not change from the run flats you will definitley get tired of replacing top mounts, track rod ends, and having constant tracking and alignment issues leading to un even tyre wear. These little cars are great fun and go, handle, and stop really well, but their short wheel base, limited suspension travel, and light weight mean that the BMW approved run flat options has them riding on the equivalent of concrete wheels. After some advice from the mini owners club with her first car, ( I thought the ride and handling were shocking and nearly sent it back to the dealer), we were advised to change to an equivelent non run flat tyre.
The difference in ride, grip, feel, and cabin noise was incredible ( not to mention price), we have since used Toyo T1 R's as these are fitted to my Tuscan, but may i also suggest looking at Avon ZZr's as these have proved good value for money, excellent in the dry, and exceptional in the wet. Just make sure your wife carries a can or two of tyre weld or similar, or has appropriate break down cover just in case one goes pop.
Hope this is of some help.
