my £300 quid mercedes 190e is in for its MOT tomorrow - It's going to need a few bits and bobs done to get it through, but hopefully nothing too expensive.
Time will tell, but what do you think my "scrap it" cut off point should be with regards repairs cost?
it runs really well, has been reliable over the last 3k miles, and everything works. It needs some ARB bushes I think and the handbrake is not working very well

190s are still plentiful and cheap so I wouldn't go too crazy on the repairs if it needs any since you only paid £300 for it... Just check all the obvious (lights/tyres/seatbelts/wipers etc etc) you can yourself and give it a bit of a thrash on the way to the station.
The handbrake is easy to adjust on these btw, can be done with the wheels still on and a screwdriver. Play in ARB bushes might be an advisory, depends how pedantic the tester is.

yes, all the obvious bits and bobs work, decent tyres etc. I'm taking it to a trusted merc specialist, I will probably be moving the car on in the spring as I could do with something with a tow hook (maybe a W124), I guess it will be worth more with a decent mot on it, which is partly why I don't really want to over invest.
