1989 Shell with full Nickson Motorsport weld in cage & hardtop. V8 roadsters tubular front subframe.
P5 pure drive coilovers & mk2 topmounts, 2 full sets of 15" OZ ultraleggeras, mk2 Sport big brakes & yellow stuff pads
1997 S-Spec Eunos Torsen LSD, Atomic Rex heated windscreen.
1994 1.8 block Flyin Miata Wiseco pistons, H beam carillo rods, Flyin miata high flow billet oil pump, ARP studs, Flyin miata race bearing rebuild kit, 13 thermostatically controlled oil cooler, 52 mm high volume alloy rad.
1999 Head with Intergral Stage 2 turbo cams, flyin miata vernier pullies, RC Developments 550cc injectors, Toyota Coil on plug ignition, Flyin miata happy meal clutch

All engine assembled setup by Chris Wilson

Begi cast manifold, Owen Developments Garrett GT2860RS Disco potato turbo, Forge adjustable actuator, Large Begi intercooler, Fast Forward Superchargers dual feed big bore fuel rail, Walbro 190lph fuel pump, Link G3 ECU & Link display dash, Coolant reroute. CBS wiring board.

It used to run 12psi boost on a standard engine and make 265bhp, peak efficiency Owen Developments say is 17psi so should be about 320bhp and the engine can obviously easily cope with that - flyin Miata engines of the same spec people strap monster turbos on going up to 500bhp.

Most of the uprated parts are shiney and new never been used, the mechanicals are all more or less assembled, stuff like the brakes need piping up, PPF lining up, gear box oil etc it has no wiring loom at all (it does have a brand new LINK engine loom, just not cut and connected).

I turn the engine over monthly by hand just to keep it all moving.

Think its sale-able or do I really need to finish it off, I probably could do it in two weeks if I took time off work, but working full time and doing an MSc part time and having lost interest in MX5's (sorry to say I've had a VX220 and mk3 MR2 since I decided on a rebuild and I just prefer mid engined cars) - well I can see it sitting for another year of more. frown

Its last outing at Silverstone before the decision to re-shell and uprate the power. It lapped for 20minutes with those 996's photo taken just after I passed the one :-)

You could sell as a project, in parts or chuck it back together. All depends on the effort you want to put in and how much of a return you'd want to get from it.

That's what I'm not sure about if getting it complete mapped and running is worth it? I know MX5's don't fetch much anymore but most of this car is new, engines never run from build etc.

Cage was £1500, engine about £3k, turbo & kit £1k, ECU & display £1k, wheels £1200, then all the odds and sods cobra Monaco seat, scroth harnesses etc

I can't see anyone willing to pay close to just the sum of those parts for the whole done car. So maybe break it is best? But then would I end up with a shell with an expensive cage sat in the garage?

Worth much more in parts unfortunately.

I would love to have lots of bits off you.
Unfortunately I cant afford any of it right now. It seems a shame as the car looks like its had a lot of work put into to it.

try and return it closer to OEM? sell the turbo as a complete kit, sell the wheels and pick up some 14" daisy's, maybe sell the engine and drop in a standard lump?
i'm sure someone who races an mx5, who was unfortunate to modify it in the armco, would like a clean shell and cage to re-shell all of their bits???

are you on mx5nutz? if not, get on there! there's lads with money to burn, who would love bits off your car, maybe even the whole car.

I could be tempted by the wheels, I've been looking for some 15s for mine and it's handy to know they'll clear the Mk2.5 big brakes!

Going to think for a bit what to do with it, not going to break it yet. Seems to be a shame to break it, but I do suppose it makes sense. Dismantling is easier than building especially when its wiring etc from scratch as the whole cars such a bd of parts.

Boo! Was hoping to read that you'd had the time off and put it all back together.

Aaah I assume you're Steve B then?
I'm eyeing those wheels... Had plans for money to be spent elsewhere on the car though. scratchchin
