There seem to be a few threads at the moment about the 997 turbo and whether it is too clinical a car.

Recently I moved from the car above to the car below, selling the RS was hard, I had a Europipe exhaust fitted and it was an absolutely brilliant car. I managed 9,000 miles in a year driving really only for enjoyment.

I then had the dilemma to keep it but not use it over the winter or sell it and buy something I could still enjoy rain or shine (rain)

I decided that it wasn't worth keeping it to have it off the road so it sold within a week and I bought a turbo (JZM for the GT3 and Paragon for the turbo, both excellent)

I didn't test drive or even see the turbo before I got it and I have to say I didn't bond with it all to begin with, so much so that I thought about getting out of it, at a big loss!

Then I had a Europipe fitted which not only sounds much better but also allows me to judge when I am doing 130 mph rather than my perceived 80 mph.

I used to take the RS out for a three hour drive or Euro trip and didn't do that with the turbo at first because of the weather but then I realised its actually more fun in the wet.

Very hard to unstick generally but in the wet it drives in quite a similar way to the RS in the dry.

Power delivery is obviously different as is the 4 wheel drive but it all looks and feels very much cut from the same cloth.

My conclusion is that it doesn't have the same sense of drama than the RS but can equally as fun to drive, in all weathers.

I plan to sell it once spring/summer is with us and get a 997.2 RS but after my initial doubt having given the car a chance I am glad I made the switch, if only for the winter!

yup, this is in the worst weather that the turbo's are the most enjoyable.
