Flat Battery......

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been done before but i did search and nothing came up.

Any advice on how to get to the battery for a charge? Its a right git to get to as we all know and I have no way from coming up beneath the car.

Have huge hands to so may need to disconnect the odd hose. Is this normal? or am I being a plonker?

you need to put your arm down from above to clip onto the live, clip the black one to the chassie mind the belts if you start it whiles still conected

Connect black to chassis and the red to the back of the starter motor. How I have always charged and jumped my car

Yeah starter motor is much easier to get to.

Cheers for that, I see what your saying, as long as its on a chargeable conductor it will still charge the battery.

I know it depends on how flat the battery is, (my fob wont work so very) any idea on how long this will take?

Reach down to the battery and connect to a cTek battery charger / conditioner. That should revive the battery and you won't need to start it with wires / hands about to get caught up in the belts!

And if the car was locked before the battery drained, be ready with the fob when you connect the charger. Once it's had a couple of seconds, the alarm will sound as the rear clam will be open.

thats only true on the 5 speeders... starter is a nightmare on the 6 speed box and the possitive is around 10mm from the fuel tank so very bad idea to attach battery charge clamps to it.

you can get to it a 'little' easier if you remove the wheel arch panels, but quite a few people fit possive extensions so they can charge from these (bit like bmw have them under the bonnet when battery is in boot)

Yes it is a 3r with the six speed box. Angry it has gone dead. Nothing is simple with a Noble.

Once I left the door open and ran down the battery. I just connected some jump leads to the top of the battery - started the car and left it for 15-20 mins.

Then turned it off, took of the jump leads - then restarted the car and took it out for a long spin.

Never had a problem since.
