By the sound of it, it'll be for less than 6 months so you'll be fine. Re. Internet, you'd be better off trying to hire a villa with it included or coming to a deal with the landlord as I suspect to get it you'd need a Spanish Rezidencia card.

Where will you be living, campo or city? Either way you'll have to deal with Iberbanda or Telefonica, both of whom are challenging with concepts such as customer service being completely alien but having said that, the way of life is more relaxing than in the UK despite economic hardship.

I understand you have to live outside of the UK for more than 180 days to be considered out of the system and even then,

You won't have to worry about council tax, mine was 80€ a year for a 3 bed villa and pool, you will need a Nie number if you are using Spanish utility companies but these are pretty simple to obtain.

My mother runs a sales and lettings agency over there near Alicante, there are plenty of decent empty villa's around for 500-600€ a month, link is in my profile smile

Oh and apparently, if you pay social security in Spain just once, you get free healthcare for life! (Never actually gotten round to investigating if this is true or not.......)

Not true I'm afraid., you have to pay in quite a bit.
