I'll be the first to admit here that I'm no fan of Boche 4x4's, especially ones designed more in mind for the tarmac than the mud. I'd much prefer a dig american pickup truck, But I did have to laugh when I saw this video of a big, tough, torquey yank terrain-basher being utterly humiliated with an absolute minimum of fuss!

Well when you look at the german engine having 750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque, I'd be surprised if it lost

IIRC that Duramax is at 660lb ft......

I'd rather have the Chevy though if I'm honest

And in fact, is Duramax not Isuzu through a GM joint venture?

He appeared to forget to put half a tonne of sand in the bed so he actually had some traction rather than the open centre diff (unless he forgot to select the 4wd) spun all the power away through the back end.

The VW's traction control and actual suspension won that one!

The torque isn't going to win that - weight distribution and sophistication gave it little chance. There was no power at the front end of the Chevrolet.

I don't know how I've posted three times already, but I'm out before the worms shoot out of the can.

Sticky highway radials in having superior traction on tarmac than mud tyres on a wildly tramping live axle shocker. smile

Lack of weight over rear axle and mud tyres. Still fun none the less!
