Can anyone offer a bit of advice before I delve with all spanners blazing.

I have got all my oil leaks sorted (rear crank seal, sump gaskets, g/box leak) apart from this one, its coming from the oil filter housing, there's a blank disc retained by a circlip where the oil appears to be weeping from, its not major, just annoying.
Car is 97, 450 with serp engine.

is there a seal behind the blank, or does it need a smear of silicone?
Is there anything else behind there I need to know about?

Any help would be appreciated.

We had something like this on the 500 and after a couple of filter changes still happened. I think it was core plug above the housing that was weeping which looked like it was the filter or filter housing. Luckily simple fix.

The core plug is underneath Paul. The filter, oil cooler takeoff plug & that circlip (its the pressure relief valve assembly BTW) also could be the root ~ unless you clean every surface and spot exactly where it's coming from they are all difficult. Taping down bits of kitchen roll can sometimes help identify where the oil comes from.

From looking at your picture I'd remove the blanking plug and oil pressure switch first (as they are easily removed) to make sure they are sealed in addition to the filter ~ damned oil runs everywhere making tracing the source of minor leaks much harder than it sounds.

Pretty sure its the circlip retained pressure switch (thanks for that, I thought it might be) cover. Its been weeping a while now, had a filter change and new pressure switch ( and sender).

If i remove the circlip....will it all go ping everywhere, and is it a o ring to reseal?

Found this, so happy its just an o ring, but am I likely to get away with one from my o ring kit or is there something unique about it?
