Focus 1.6 zetec.

I drove the wifes focus tonight and noticed the tacometer/rev counter seem to be
a bit low than what I expected, e.g. doing 30mph the revs showed just over tick over in 4th.
When driving on NSL road 60mph the counter showed 2k ,now in my golf would have indicated 2.5k normal I would of thought.
So me thinks the focus one is faulty.
The last time I encounted this was in an orion 1.6 and the gear box failed shortly afterwards.
Is this the same thing , is the gear box on the way out or is it the norm?
The car has only done 39k, any ideas? ta.

I wouldn't worry, plus you cant compare cars in this way... is the movement smooth ?

Thanks for your answer,I guess the smoothness would down to how the car is driven, so yes it is.
