Anyone planning on doing it? Am about to sign up (deadline is tomorrow) and wondered if the PH massive were up for it, or have already applied?

Of the 2 clubs I ride with nearly everyone has signed up for this ride, now if the same is being done throughout the country the chances of getting in are very small Still you have to be in it to win it as they say...

The fact that they want a cross section of entrants put me off, seems like they will select people based on times in the "qualification" rides and expected finish times so they have a steady stream of peopel on the course rather than big groups or empty roads for long periods of time.

Not having done one of their qualification rides and stating what will probably be a popular expected finish time (around 5-6 hours), i doubt i'll get in but given it was the same price as three wiggle sportives, i'm not all that bothered.

I've got no idea what time I could finish as I haven't worked up to that distance...but thought along those lines and put 7 hours

Signed up when the ballot opened a few months ago....only for Wilton House Supercar day (which I present) to be scheduled for the same day. Bugger

I rode the Vattenfall Cyclassic this summer (one of the RideLondon qualifying events) and it has a similar number of riders.

If it's anything like the Vattenfall the timing isn't to have a constant stream as that will be done with starting blocks. The timing is because after the event there is a UCI race and they need everyone to be out of the way. There will be minimum average speeds broom wagons around.

One of our team got swept up this year.

I did similar. If I could do it in 6 hours I'd be happy - although on closed roads it's easier to keep up the average and the route should be pretty straightforward.

At least I'll get a jersey.
