TVR Cerbera for sale with TVR Dean

TVR Cerbera, with TVR Dean see below:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-Cerbera-4-0-SPEED-SI...
Also advertised on Pistonheads.
I have a supercharged Chimaera, and a Westfield. Was thinking of adding to the collection?
Any thoughts please? Paint is expensive. Looks like the interior is damp? Was considering this to drive around for this year since I am a family of 3 (a 3 year old son and a doris). Main concern is that it I doubt the speed six has been rebuilt, am I just buying hassle?????
What wiring is likely to need replacing around the battery area? Is it a simple fix as suggested? Looks like the door windows have been smashed in??? Any thoughts?

If i had 7k to spend on one i would not buy that one as you say it may not have had a re-build and for a little more you can pick up one that you can get in and drive from the off set this could up costing you a few thousand to put on the road and if the engine lets go 7k+
Too add that is reading between the lines if the car is a good one sto start off with before the fire damage it may suffer from the normal Cerb issues that could be lurking so not being able to road test it would put me off unless it was silly cheap.

Can't see how front & back light conersions cost 4k. Must be VERY expensive paint as the front is about £1500.Also if its an easy fix with all parts available, why not fix it & ask top price? No personal dealings with the company, but plenty on PH have done.I would do a search before making your mind up.

I was quoted £6k to totally respray my car with original colour.Just dropped you a more in-depth PM back but in case you don't see it basically the summary was
"For the Gold one it looks like there was a battery fire, so the positive and negative leads will need replacing and you'll need a new 'scuttle' thing to go over the top.

From there you have a very knowledgable team at Pistonheads to help, as well as the alternative parts list (I run the most updated version of that :-) ) so if you do jump that way, you're in good hands.
Vice verse, if you hate doing anything with cars, don't want the hassle, then put £2k more into a standard one and it will probably be 10/20% less hassle.
But saying that every TVR seems to be a 'challenge' so I guess you know what you're getting in to! :-)"
BTW one extra thought I had this morning is that you may want to get copies of the service reports for the engine, as that can be expensive if there are issues...

Thanks everyone for your contribution.
I went to see it today with my work mate. We were working at Hartlepool Power Station so it was only an hour up the road.
It was clear why the car hadn't sold already. These are the reasons:
1) The chassis was red with rust, even in the engine bay! So body off required to put right
2) The paint was flaking off everywhere, so not just a front end respray. That flip paint is expensive!
3) The fire damage extended into the under dash area adjacent to driver's door card, this was all burnt along with the door card. Because of this the door window had been smashed to put the fire out so the whole interior is very wet from the car living outside.
4) Both front spider wheels are buckled, interestingly, these aren't included in the advert quoted parts bill to fix, he wants £130 or £140 / wheel. Obviously Glen thinks that some people would be happy driving fast with badly buckled front wheels!
In summary, £7K for the car, plus £4.5K for a body off chassis restoration, plus no one knows if the engine has ever been rebuilt, speedo reading 36999, so probably due £5.4k with TVR Power. The whole car is weathering really badly, new interior possibly £3k, full respray with flip paint probably £4k and who knows what else. Yes you would end up with a really good car, but you could buy one already done for a lot less.
The only way you can make the numbers work is if you do a lot of the work yourself thereby costing your time out for free. I already have a supercharged Chimaera, a Westfield that I work on during the winter months and a 3 year old son which takes up all of my time. I will keep looking.

I thought long and hard about what I wanted from a Cerbera. In the end I dexised to save up l9nger and biy a well sorted example towards the upper end of the price range and then maintain it. I figured the car would be enough work whatever happened without starting off with a reverse kitcar project.

On your post you mention the gold one. Does this mean you have looked at the blue one as well?
and do you have an opinion on its condition.
Many thanks,
phil.
