Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004 2.7 deisel front axle replacement

Anyone have any idea how long it would take a garage to replace a complete front axle (inc. diff.) on a 2004 2.7 ltr overland Grand Cherokee?

Probarbly 3 hours depending on what has to be removed and potential problems. I'm not familiar with that model. Only the newer wrangler.

They're rebuildable if not too shagged. Bloke at SOuthern Axles in Watford says the rear on a ZJ is a day's turnaround, so you might call them.

Done it by myself on the drive in 4 hours. You need to remove the front calipers due to the routing of the lines, so brake bleeding will need doing. Just FYI the 2.7 has the same diff ratio as the 4litre, 3.55, so if you are struggling to source a diesel axle look for a 4litre one. Also beware that Jeep changed the front prop style from a CV to a UJ on the later WJs, so make sure your axle has the same driveshaft flange as you currently have.
