Can anyone explain WTF is going on here? All details (except the car, natch) are the same each time:

Volvo V70 Estate: Cheapest quote £800.
Chrysler Jeep: Cheapest quote £690
Bentley Turbo R: Cheapest quote £300

What manner of stupidity is this?

Did Bentley ever make an estate version of the Turbo R?

Edit: V70 not S70

A few exist, but they're coachbuilt and awesomely expensive. Isn't there even a 4x4 coachbuilt estate somewhere? A Jankel creation maybe?

And would it be due to the fact that as a Turbo R owner you're likely to be an enthusiast who will cherish it?

I'd suggest that what is going on is that the stats the insurance company have indicate that people who drive Bentleys on average cost them less in claims that the drivers of the other two cars you listed.

Devil - you're probably right, just seems odd that the whole "insurance group" thing seems to have been thrown in the bin.

On a less extreme note, I found six cylinder 3-Series were cheaper to insure than four cylinder models. More mature owners and less pimped up 316s understeering into hedges...

Any chance the Bentley is being quoted as a classic policy?

Try a quote on the Saint's Volvo for comparison. P1800S?

Are you sure all details are correct?
For example check your original post do you mean natch or match?
Could you have put incorrect details in?

Sorry, old uk.misc habit. natch=naturally.

I'm using confusingthemeerkat.com, so the ONLY details that are changing between quotes are the vehicle details.

Quote for a Bentley Eight: £244
Quote for a Volvo 1800 (worth £10K): £130.
