Hello

Bought cheap hdmi splitter.

Xbox in port 1
Sky hd box in port 2
Ps3 in port 3

Xbox works fine
Ps3 works fine
When using sky the check signal message is displayed although the sky signal is being displayed. When i power on the xbox it works fine?

It seems like the sky box doesn't generate enough signal???

So is the splitter broken or something else amiss?

Thanks

Do you get the same problem if you switch the ports around?

Is the splitter powered by it's own PSU? I had some funny issues with my splitter then I realised that the PSU had become unplugged. If yours isn't powered, then I'd recommend looking up a Neet HDMI splitter as I've seen plenty of recommendations for them on AVforums. I can't remember what make mine is now and it's a bit hard to get to otherwise I'd recommend it.

No it isn't. I have had a look at the sky forums and it seems to be a problem with the sky boxes.

I will check out the "Neet" splitter.

I'll take this one back to asda and buy a tesco one in the meantime incase that works.

The spec of HDMI was never designed to power other hardware.

And Sky are notorious for building to the lowest possible spec. Where possible ALL HDMI hardware should be directly powered and not use the HDMI port for power.

Neet or HD Anywhere are great for splitters but as the other poster says, they need to be powered.

The one exception is HDbaseT stuff.

Starting to use the CYP stuff this year that powers it's receivers from the central Matrix.
