Driving in traffic today, I thought to myself "why is everybody in such a hurry?"

A change from the days when I used to think "why is everybody driving so slow?"

I guess this makes me officially old. :P

It's quite rare now - MrsSE and I took a trip the other week and I was driving fairly sedately, and we were still passing most other things on the road. I find on the whole that most people are driving slower and trying to save a few petrol pennies.

You know you're old when you do an online insurance quote and at "date of birth" when you open the drop down you have to scroll down!

It's Friday afternoon. Peak time of the week for accidents is 4 pm to 7 pm on a Friday because so many people are driving like divs.

Second most dangerous time? Saturday evening 7 pm to 11.00 pm, presumably when the same people are going out for the evening.

According to a government survey old age begins at 59 years 2 months and 2 weeks or 20 May 2013 in my case. Still, two lots of cakes at work within ten weeks or so.

You know you're old when you realise why they call you an old fart. :glum:

Those who are old(ish) will know what I am talking about.

Youngsters will find out in due course..............

I nearly wet myself the other day (mirth, not old age) seeing a thread on here about "driving gloves"!

Whan on earth did anyone last need gloves to drive a car?

If you don't have a heated steering wheel (I never have), they can be useful. however, I wear a pair in the Mustang because it is still essentially new even after 7 years and finger grease can be a nuisance and replacing a pair of gloves is cheaper than having the steering wheel re-trimmed.

As to the OP, I have largely given up on muppets who carve through traffic dangerously or who try and leap queues by proceeding in the wrong lane and cutting sharply into a gap left by a slow starter. Even a few miles down the road, they're still only a few cars ahead and yet still risk someone bumping their car if they misjudge one of their suicide bids.

I gave a withering look to a young bloke in a Clio this evening who was doing this sort of darty driving. Needless to say, he was slouched back in his seat and had earphones in (ddidn't this used to be illegal and isn't it driving without due care?) and his car would occasionally erratically drift back and fiorth as he was plainly looking for some "Choonz" on his phone/MP3. I thought "F*cking d*ck" so I am certainly old.

I also have a preference for pink T-shirts, but at the ripe old age of 50 something I have nothing to prove biggrin

A mate that now lives over the pond has em when he goes out in his R32... I think he may have been brainwashed. But to be fair he does listen to rock, shaves his head, wears jeans/tshirt/leather jacket and has an overall scruffy look so it kind of fits him.
Im 22 and I really wonder why most people drive like they are The Stig incarnate almost everywhere around London, up to the point where I just dont give a censored and let them pass so they can eventually get caught up by the speed camera up the road.A uni mate who is a complete kamikaze on the road, now thinks that i drive like an old man.

I think I got old at 30. I like getting socks as a gift, I take my time and am seldom in a rush anymore. I recently bought a wind warmer as well!:hehe
