Insurance - who do you use?
Discussion
I'm looking to get some insurance for my kit - was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?
I cant help but feel there must be some more specialist companies than 'protect your bubble.com'
Want to make sure i get insurance that can be quite specific as to whats covered- for example, my new laptop is a fairly pricey bit of kit, and i've upgraded the thing myself, and i want the type of cover where the whole lot is covered, including upgrades, so in event of theft I get the right amount of money to build another one to exactly to the same spec.
Also looking for worldwide cover, as I go abroad a few times a year for work, and loss cover too would be good. - would be useful in case I leave a tripod on a train or something..... not that thats ever happened before or anything....
Glover and Howe - been with them for years, full pro cover with PL and PI cover too. Claims have been paid quickly (I've never had a big claim, max has only ever been a few hundred quid for repairs) and usually over the phone rather than form-filing. My cover is UK only but includes short trips abroad as well. Kit is all covered on a new-for-old basis, and my computer gear is covered too.

Home insurance.
Most policies will cover specific items such as camera equipment for in the house, outside the house, accidental damage etc.
My home policy currently covers my kit worldwide for an extra £20 a year.

Used to have separate cover, then found I could get basically the same cover as an addition to home insurance at less cost.
(for non-professional use obviously)
