Jaguar owners clubs

Hi

I am going to get myself a MK 2 this year and was just looking to join an owners club. Do any owners have any advise as to which one as there seems to be a few. I am based in Hertfordshire if that makes any difference

Depends what you want from a club.

The JEC is bigger and more practically orientated, but in my particular area the JDC is much better organised and attended.

I'm a member of both.

Why not check out your local area meets for both clubs and see which one suits you best ?

What do you want from a club? I have been a member of all clubs over the last 30 years or so and have the following comments to make:

1. Technical assistance. Not brilliant and takes ages for a response (on line forums much better)
2. Events. Don't need to be a club member and when I was, there were no discounts for entry.
3. Tool hire. I think the JEC do some specialist tools.
4. Car appraisal. You'll pay for this service and can get it independantly and from clubs.
5. Magazine. Both equal but don't have much substance. The JDC seemed to be about dinner dances and polishing. (I think the E type and Mk 2 registers are pretty good though - they organise Prescott and Goodwood regularly).

it all depends what you are looking for. I'm not a member of any clubs now but might join a single marque in the future.

Thanks for the replies, I am mainly looking for technical advise and maybe access to cheaper insurance etc. dinner dances are defiantly not my thing. Local meets etc would be a bonus but not vital.

JEC is definately the most "technical" club. Membership of either would give you insurance and other discounts.

Again if your local area is very active you'll find a lot of advice/assistance from local members and also access to local specialists.
