I know its been done a hundred times, but where is the best place to go for AM car insurance? which one does the best package and allows you to take the car to an AM approved body shop/repair with out them taking the hire car away for instance?
Some say use the compare websites, some say you need a comprehensive insurance from a company that understands AM and other such cars, so where is the best place to look? I don't want to be paying stupid money with a clean driving licence, nearly 50, and have been driving since 1982.

Any help would be great, cheers.

Locktons, I've used them for the last 2 years, quite a lot of guys on here and the AMOC do, very agreeable and good pricing.

Depends on your own personal priorities, but admiral multi car always seems to come out in this discussion. I just renewed with them for the third year running, nobody could touch them, and even other companies just gave up soon as I mentioned admiral.
If you scroll back a few pages you'll find the discussion crops up quite regularly.

When I bought my first Aston last year, Admiral were by far the most competitive.

Locktons for me. Very good terms, as long as you don't need more than 7.5k miles, then it gets expensive.

Locktons for me too - I'm familiar with Chubb and their excellent reputation in dealing with claims. At renewal time they knocked a decent amount off the renewal premium, so worth negotiating, especially if you've an alternative quote that's 'like for like'.

I changed to Firstpoint insurance in Northampton - JCT recommended them to me saying a number of their customers used them and found good prices. They were a good price and cover seems comprehensive.

Previously used CCI in Nottingham (found them to be excellent in the past) but saved some money with Firstpoint.

I also used DirectLine one year and vowed never again to use them. They refused to insure my car for theft until proof that an immobiliser was fitted. It took two letters from the dealer and two from Aston Martin directly before they accepted the car had a suitable, factory fitted immobiliser - absolute waste of space IMHO

I spoke to at least 10 brokers (most found via a search on here so including Locktons, Admiral etc) and CCI provided me with the best price, by far.

However, it will have to be a limited mileage, non-commuting policy with them.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I went with First Point this morning who got me insurance with Aviva, good price for me and mileage allowance was good too. So I am happy and looking forward to collecting my car next Tuesday smile

Ditto too, Admiral provided me with a quote lower than what I used to pay for my MBZ CLS!

Our db9 ( central London, parked on drive 5 years Ncb ) £550 with Sheila's wheels ( car in wife's name). Go compare was about £1100 min ranging to abut £10000!

Sheila's wheels add £200 excess if you want to use franchise dealer

I've today I've not renewed my Admiral multicar policy ( V8V and a 1.2 Clio ) which was £997 and instead gone to two separate insurance policies which came out at £758.

So I saved myself almost £250 and got a meerkat as well !

Multi-car is a load of tosh. Your right it works out more than 2 separate policies - I went through Admiral also!

I just used Compare the meerkat and got prices for me and my wife as a named driver (both over 50 with over 30 years driving experience), car kept on drive, full NCB, 3,500 miles per year and £250 excess between £556 and £7,389.

Then you wonder why some people think the insurance market is a rip-off.

Admiral are fine so long as you stay within your drink driving limits. If you smash your Aston into a lamppost then blow positive into the breathalyser, Admiral will pay for the lamppost but not for your car, and this will make it quite a costly accident, so for a few quid more, I'd rather go with an insurer who will pay out. Even a couple of pints could take you over the limit.

If you were over the limit I'd be surprised if any insurance company would pay up.

Interesting as I found with insuring four cars that Admiral were cheaper for the four. It is also less hassle in managing one policy rather than four separate ones.
