Spotted a van with 2x lenses sticking out the back today, parked in a layby just after a roundabout crossing the old A5 on the Dual carriageway (Standing Way, towards Buckingham)

Thinking about it, it must be doing Tax disc checks, as you'd have to be driving a Formula 1 car to be able to come round the roundabout with enough speed for them to catch you the other side !!

Either way, my road angel laser alert never twitched (AGAIN).

Surely if they were doing tax disc checks, you wouldn't expect it to?

P,

True, just another excuse to have a go at my useless radar attachment that has never triggered, although i did think that even if cameras were for tax, that they would be laser based ?

Nah its just a video camera and some computer trickery to check the number plate with dvla to see if it shows as taxed.. I dont think they read the tax discs them selves.

It wont. Even with a real laser van pointing at it. First off its no positioned near your numberplate (where they are most likely to target) and second even if it did go off then you cannot react quickly enough to do anything about it.

I have a Snooper SLD920 on my bike and a SNooper SLD920X on the car. Easy to fit? depends on your own technical ability. Mine is fairly reasonable in terms of electronics etc so it took me 1.5 hours for the bike and about 2.5 hours in the car.

If you use them PROPERLY (ie turn them off the milisecond you have had time to slow down) to let them get a reading at the correct speed limit, then it usually doesnt arose suspicion.

If you act like a tw@t and ride / drive through the trap with them on, then you will get dragged through the mud and rightly so as it ruins it for the rest of us

Mail me offline if you have any more questions, or go to www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk to see the reviews. I recommend Snooper only because they are adaptive and do not trigger any "warning" messages on the guns.

Oh by the way, I have had them both tested against real police lasers and it works 100%

Maybe the budget end of the market won't pick up laser, but a Valentine 1 does ! at massive range. Stop buying cheapo goods. False economy.

Usually yes if its not obstructed. Is that a private plate

Cptsideways said its possible to mount them vertically with no problems. the biggest issue is whether they are facing straight on or not. if they are more than 25 degrees out then it wont work.

Yes but you can buy a Garage door opener that, I believe, has the 'unfortunate' side effect of interfering with Laserplod's toys.
