Hi chaps

I really need some help please (as i get told my wife regularly!) I am no way familiar with car electrics but though I would give some basic electrical work a go.

Since owning the car since August I have noticed that one of the rear number plate lights is out on the so thought i would have a look see.

As you can see the left wires have previously been cut and only the right have crimps on.

So I decided that I would resolve this dastardly situation (not thinking about why they had been cut in the 1st place!) and have put new crimps on and hooked them all back up.

Well, suprise suprise the lights are no longer working! So it must of fused them I guess?

Anyway, does anyone know why this would of happened in the 1st place please?

Thanks in advance.

My 97 chimaera number plate lights practically fell apart when I looked to see why one wasn't working.
It seemed the plastic went brittle, so I'm guessing heat from the lamp.

They are Triumph Stag units, bought mine from eBay quite cheaply and fitted led lamps as well and they have been fine.

Guessing water might have got into yours?

i think they are fused with the side lights.....so if your side lights still work then its not the fuse. It's fuse 11 ( 15 amp) counting from the left in the main fuse board in the passenger footwell.
