Maybe it means ideal for elderly people, who only want to fly at 40mph, but do appreciate excellent reliability.

Perhaps the aircraft are all now well mannered and polite?

Maintained by the South African equivalent of Kwik-Fit.

What do Lightnings sell for ? I guess an airworthy one hasn't sold for a long time ? Any idea of what most of the statics sell for ?

IIRC the statics that were sold on Binbrooks closure (1988/89) were around the £5k mark. Roy Flood (Castle Air) bought two for his back garden!

I'd take the Hunter, but as a result of the Christmas / New Year over-consumption of pies, I don't think I could take the jeering from the mates at the flying club.

"Blimey! look - Bunter in a Hunter"

That and the fact the pilot's notes indicate 19lb of fuel per nm flat out on the deck.
