Hi All

I've noticed that some Wedges have boot spoilers. Were these a factory option? Or did certain car not come with them and may have been retrofitted over the years.

Has anyone got one they want to sell? saw a pic of a Yellow Wedge with one fitted and quite like it.

My boot lid is a slightly different colour to the rest of the car. So will eventually be repainted. At that time I may add the spoiler.

Cheers Karl.

Like everything its about personal preference, some guys on the forum will state that we need to keep the original lines of the car without spoilers but personally I think the 400SE type rear wing adds to the aggressive looks of the car.. You can sometimes pick one up on Fleabay or try TET Mouldings on line fella

Thanks Guys

Yep £150 plus delivery. Not to bad at all. Amazed how reasonable the rest of the panels are.

Might let the Wife drive it after all. But only back from the pub obviously:-)!

Hmm I wonder if they could do one with a thinner cross-section and angled a little bit more so it actually produces some downforce instead of sitting there looking pretty and causing drag?

But it does mean if you are are not that tall like me you can see the back of the car when going backwards! Can we have one for the front wink

It would mean that you and Mrs Yatesy would have to wear matching jumpsuits though hehe

Hi Adam i've been thinking along the same lines as yourself and have found a rear spoiler to start playing with! In the photo it doesn't show very well but it is swept up to the rear, i'm sure with a little work it can be made to fit and as the over all shape of the spoiler is not that far from the origanl via looks and fitment i dont think it will look to out of place...

Unless it actually works (extremely doubtful), would consider it excess weight on a vehicle that is all about lightness, and a waste of money.

Personally I don't think they add anything to the lines of the car....rather, they spoil the shape by making it look even shorter and 'tubbier' and the back end too fussy and complicated if it also has the undertray type spoiler.

Better to spend the money on other things on the car. JMHO. smile

All Sxs were built with spoilers. None had teatray factory ones, either Zender or Ford Granada droopy end. Mine's a Zender, looks nice and weights not a lot

Rear spoilers are like women and their boobs.............those with big boobs moan about them and with age they start to sag!! ...............and women without boobs want to stuff as much plastic on their bodywork as they can till they look ridiculous! biggrin

mine came with a spoiler but when it went in for a repaint i preferred it without one.................i'm talking about the car now not the missus!............ call it a spoiler reduction operation biggrin

Now you know I'm not one to disagree with you Graham wink but I find the 390SE's rear underwing combined with a rubbery Zender boot spoiler to be quite a pleasing combination.
Never been a fan of the droopy plank 400SE style one though...

One day I might take a mould off my Zender and go into production scratchchin
