X308 v X350. Any experience anyone?
Discussion
Quite unexpectedly I have the opportunity of putting a very nice X350 in the garage and moving the X308 on to its next owner.
Anyone else gone down this route? I'm not concerned about running costs or maintainence or the paint problems that crop up occasionally but wouuld like to get impressions about build and ride quality comparisons between the two. Anyone run both and what's the verdict?
Cheers Chaps

I owned a X300 LWB Sovereign for 8 years, and loved it (did 325k miles before I sold it) I replaced it with a X350 4.2 SE a few years ago, so not the exact comparison you are looking for but close. I have driven a lot of X308's over the years.
There is no doubt the X350 is a more modern car in feel, economy, speed, design, safety etc. I t is a nice place to be, and a very good car. You know you will have niggles, but nothing to get too excited by ..i.e. I have the Air suspension light on when it's cold, I know a new compressor will probably sort it ... one day I'll do it !.
In comparison to the X300, it is not quite as comfortable, smooth or quiet. I don't think it is a good looking, or as well made .... but the lightness is the the thing that makes it quick & economical (relatively speaking)
Touch screen, that I so desperately wanted, I know realise isn't a big deal. Tyres last much longer, it has been a reliable place to be.
I usually get an X308 courtesy car from my Jag Indie at service times, they feel very old fashioned in comparison. I don't really like the big windscreen pillars on the 350, and the cabin isn't as "airy" as a 308, but as an acid test ... would I go back to a 300/308 instead of the 350 ? Probably not. (Well a nice Daimler Super V8 might tempt me) !
Hope that helps
