Moved house - Shotgun safe?

I've moved house fairly recently and my shotgun is still at my parents house and in my own safe (I have the keys) I have told the local Police that the gun is still in my safe at my parents house. I am thinking about bringing the gun up to my house. WIll the police need to visit to see a shotgun safe I will install? Or can I just bring it up without telling anyone?
