A friend is offering me the use of his Laguna Coupe for a couple of weeks while I do a load of travel with work. Now the diesel economy would be more than welcome but I've heard next to nothing about these, what are peoples thoughts on them etc?

Have a read of this for an idea

http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

It won't break down, nor will it suffer any electrical gremlins and is believe it or not, well made

Not that many will accept that though!

I have to admit that initial post made me sound incredibly ungrateful. It's more down to the fact that over the month he'll be loaning it to me I'm going to be covering upward of 200miles each day and I'm more concerned about what kind of place it's going to be like to stay in for that much time etc smile

Normally I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth but as work are also offering to sort me out with a hire car it's more a case of weighing up all options.

use the hire car, why brutalise his resale value.

people don't buy these lagunas to keep forever, or because its something they love!

+1

Also why risk a friendship if you pranged it if work are willing to supply instead.

Thanks all, you've pretty much reaffirmed everything I was thinking about the whole situation. Now to hope the nice lass who sorts out the hire cars can be convinced to get me something slightly more fun than a 1.2 Fiat 500

Not that there is anything wrong with a Fiat 500 but I'd personally rather not be doing the distances I'm going to be doing in one.

I think the coupe is a lovely looking car. It is one to watch as a future bargain buy. Much more elegant than an A5 and more exclusive than a 3 series, I think it's the best looking four seat coupe ...... Apart from the Alfa Gt. I've heard that the ride is hard.....not what you expect from a French car, but the diesels are very good. I'd be interested in reading your review....particularly if it is the four wheel steer version.
