Got in the car today and when I turned it over the engine would not start. There was a clicking noise but no engine turnover. The trickle charger has noted a battery fault so I connected another battery and that resulted on the same clicking noise. Any ideas would be most welcome?

I had that exact fault a few months ago and it was the starter motor failing - a new starter motor sorted it.

Clicking noise suggests low battery to me, are you sure the 2nd on had good charge?
There is I believe a potential fault with one of the battery wires where it deteriorates in some way giving a poor connection and therefore less oomph to the starter which could be your problem.
Hopefully there will be a Porsche tech person on here to confirm (or deny!).

DW wins!! Bought a new battery as that had to be cheaper than lugging the car to garage for a starter motor to be fitted. And it started first time!!smile . Thanks for all the leads guys.

Same issues here. Bought a new BOSCH Silver battery from EuroCarParts (less than £80.00 + VAT versus Halfords at around £115.00). Installed it and still clicking. Porsche replaced starter motor under warranty and we're up and running. Nearly won a £5.00 bet with the Porsche Assist man who said it would defo be the battery. Couldn't take his fiver as we'd changed the battery and charged it that same morning.
