Is it just me or does anyone else hate it when the headlights come on (in Auto) when it's only getting slightly dark? I asked at my OPC today if I can adjust this. No was the answer.

I hate auto head lights and auto wipers too! They just don't quite operate exactly when I want them too!

I find them annoying.

Got them both on my Q5 - wish the GT3 had them, along with Bluetooth and iPod connection.

Well you can adjust it by turning it off and doing it yourself.

My BMW is the same - low winter sun turns them on bizarrely!

In low winter sun i would ignite headlights as well tbh, oncoming trafic can spot you much much better. I don't get why people tend to not want to use their lights in the uk, reduces number of accidents has been proven.

I used to have a Peugeot 306 GTI-6 with auto wipers. They were a million times better than the Porsche ones - always tended to work at exactly the right speed.

The rest of the car was shocking though.

Don't use it, they have DRL's so just turn the lights on when it's dark or foggy with the switch, simple.

I have these on my 991, think its the only think that comes standard with the car :-)

I am of the camp of the turn on your lights when it's not bright sunny day. People see you better. Fact. If you really cannot stand the lights being turned on automatically though (not sure why this is an issue but still) then leave them on off.

As for sensitivity, strange OPC said no, when I had my R56 mini headlights would not come on in twilight.. Dealer promptly adjusted it and it was perfect afterwards.

Auto wipers for me are a must. To the point I have ruled out a few 991 that came without. Mine work fine and I can even regulate how sensitive they are with the little toggle on the stick (for better ways to describe it). Very good indeed.

What I HATE though are auto dimming rear-view mirrors that come with the auto wipers. I cannot stand them as I usually use my peripheral vision to see cars coming from the back and the sides at night in the city and these mirrors just take out the light so now I actually have to look much more closely to be sure there really ain't nobody coming and not just dimmer playin games. Anybody knows any way to disable them?

Thanks for the offer, but without a thread derail, I will just say OPC warranty smile

^press the button on the bottom middle of the front of the rear view mirror, assuming the same as the 981.

The tiny yellow light indicates the auto-dimming is active IIRC. The button toggles on/off.

Genius. Will try that as soon as I get to see her again. She was denied boarding when coming to Thailand for holidays. Shame.
