Driving over the bridge into Wales last Thursday - there were about 15 police cars - 10 fire engines - the full monty. Anyone know what was going on ? Didn't see anyone trying to jump.
A worker fell off down a large hole underneith the bridge somewhere according to the local news. I must admit I thought the number of emergency services was tad of an overkill.
IIRC he fell about 20ft inside one of the towers and sustained back and ankle injuries.
It probably was a little OTT, but I suspect there's only one planned level of response to a 'Hello 999? Someone's fallen off the Severn bridge...' incident.
