I wonder whether some kind hearted soul could post a pic of the Bulkhead area of their S2 vixen showing the bonnet catch arrangement, IE roughly the height etc and location where the bonnet release catches are located relative to the top of the scuttle. We used to have holes on our shell but now long gone due to re-glassing the shell.

Cheers

Hi Neil. Don't know if the pics below will help or not. I have replaced the bonnet catches and pins in the same position as I found them (original fixing holes)and I have set the pins on wooden spacers just as they were when I got the car. This may well be wrong and the catches originally may well have been set considerably higher up if the wooden pin spacers weren't part of the original fitting. I've no idea! All I do know is that the arrangement I have seems to work well.

Interesting, TomTrout, you seem to have the Anglia 105E type catches. Its good to know those work as well as the cupped catches, which are the ones I have.

The catch shown on my car is not broken but does differ from the original in that the locating cap is fitted to the bonnet pin, rather than welded into the catch. These catches are standard anglia catches and work perfectly well but I accept that they are not identical to those supplied as OE.

You don't know what you've been missing Adrian - they've got great door hinges as well!

BUT I have about 30-40 TVR door hinges...and I rebuild them with pretty glacier bearings and Stainless pins for people, why would I look at Ford hinges.

Out of interest, Dads old bonnet, the closing panel was about all we did salvage and it has those indents. The rest we scrapped. We are using a griff 400 bonnet on the vixen S2, I think it was originally on Kerry Horans car so should be fast hehe and as adrian said. Flat all the way along the close line....Well apart from the chunk mr schirle must have cut out somewhere along the way
