Anyone know of a supplier that could make the twin roll over hoops as fitted to TT, MG, Mazda etc for the Wedge, as I think these would do the job nicely, and not sure my pipe bending ability would be up to the job !

Or anyone had this style fitted ?

Not heard or seen of this style on a wedge. maybe worth a call to the Rollcentre 01480 464052.

I don't know who does the asthetic (sp) roll bar - but Tower View to a corking proper roll-bar - made by the nice chaps at Rollcentre - looks good, stiffens the chassis, and stops the mush getting squished

A comment that I heard a few people who had them fitted saying was- they are noisy ... they transmit the noice of the fuel pump..!

It's quite a noise, I think Jason's bunged a load of foam through his rollbar - but mine sounds like a mother-in-law -- forever whining on about something

Definitely noisey Had the rollcentre/towerview bar fitted to my 350SE. Have decided not to get one fitted to my SEAC. Firstly because of the noise and secondly although its a very solid bar and great for roll over protection I'm concerned that with an accident on the road, wearing standard seatbelt and no helmet yout head could meet the bar

Im running the Peninsula Mark2 Bar (Much thicker tubes). I get a lot of transmission noise, at high revvs its unbearable with the roof up. Mine is bolted thoug rubber bushes, and also filled with eurathaine foam. it kills some noise, but not enough.

There are a number of places that will bend "Style Bars" .. do a search on the Web, a lot of MX-5's have them .... search for "Style Bars"

Jason... alternativle, the swept back bar like mine is available from Peninsula

If you roll a Wedge with no roll bar I think your head hitting the bar will be the least of your problems.

True, but if the bar is badly positioned you could end up nutting it in a simple shunt, which could really spoil your day.

Hasn't this thread got way off track? The question was about hoops as fitted to the MG TT MX5 etc. These are for style only and offer no protection. In any case for any hoop/bar to be effective first of all you need to be wearing a harness and to fit one properly you're already half way to a roll over bar.

The idea was to fit a twin hoop system attached to chassis somewhere and then fit some harnesses in.

I agree not as strong as a full roll over cage, but better looking in my opinion and still safer than none ?

This would obviously look good but it's worth considering that a conventional hoop adds stiffness to the chassis. Just a thought.

Wrapping the tubes externally would also help deaden noise and help cushion the bang on the head in the event of a shunt.

PS What does the "swept back bar" look like? Links/pics/price?

That sounds what I'm looking for, could then bolt to a spreader plate above and below rear shelve to give a little extra protection

I would look into this carefully before you buy anything. The petrol tanks are under the rear shelf, probably just where you will want to put the bolts.

Was thinking about taking the tanks ot first, also thinking about hoop running down rear panel behind seat, through floor and then onto a suitable bar mounted between outriger and main backbone.

Just need to find some 1 3/4 or 2 inch pipe and someone able to bend in a tight radius.
