Does anyone know where to find or know who produces handmade the body shell of the typhon / tuscan R? (Plasticman??!?!)
time ago I found a blog but now there '... more (it was on a Cerbera reconstruction)
You think it is feasible on a Tuscan?

Thank you all and happy new year

The shell that was being built into a replica by Plasticman was a spare/leftover from a race team or the factory. A far as I'm aware no one makes them and the moulds went off to Germany with everything else.

That wasn't a new car that was the supercharged, sequantial box 'unfinished' Typhon from the factory.

I guess that D/A did a fair bit more than just apply paint :-)

When it left the 'Wesham Barn' it still had the engine in it and a couple of very large boxes of bits with it. Apart from the gearbox it
was more or less complete.

By the time it re-appeared at RG it was minus it's engine. I'd suggest it was removed so the rebuild could justify the bigger pricetag & buyer would need to have an FFF engine. Makes commercial sense.

What chassis is it on? Is it a standard T-chassis with fancy mods?

The TuscanR/T440/Typhon has the tuscan centre section with different front and rear cubes. It had it's own jig but that was chopped up when NS left Bristol Avenue as they didn'yt know what it was.

This may or may not be possible but I reckon if someone could make the body out of an existing car, it would look immense though I think the owners of the original/real cars may disagree with me!

How different is the front? Standard plus the pyramid/long cone bracing?
Then add c/f bracing panels to the centre tunnel frame?
And honeycomb to the floorpan construction?
How different is the rear?

It looks more than likely that at least two people mentioned above will have moulds.
Originality is another discussion.
If you can just remove a Tuscan body and replace with a Typhon shell making a two seater and ignoring the nominal roll cage then there maybe takers. To do the job properly it looks like it maybe cheaper to build a new car.

I'm not an expert but iirc the tubing is thicker guage and there's more bracing. You're obviously looking at the rear and that looks like there's more there as well.

No honeycomb in the floor plan that was a carbon sandwich. There was a mould for both the underside and the top pieces with sound deadening/heat insulation cut into triangles to fit in the gaps, that's why they're hot and noisy.

Honeycomb used round the enginebay only I think.

I'll add pics in a while just realised I need to add a copyright watermark or they'll end up on Facebook wink

Is it the same length as a Tuscan then? Obviously Dave (plasticman) can fabricate Sag body panels to a Tuscan with relative ease, all you need to do is extend the width with wishbones, etc!

I think it might have a longer wheelbase as well.

I guess but you need to have a body to make a copy off and I can't see any of the owners letting you take moulds off their cars.

Looks interesting, what is it? Original or made from a donor vehicle?

If it's the original project being referred to it's a collection of mostly real parts, the main bodyshell, doors, rear diffuser and service bonnet were TVR original panels in carbon fibre and the main bonnet was GRP from the factory mould.
