Nice boat, poor driving, mind you, what is that ditch running at, 4 knots? more?In the Mail pics she doesn't look to have taken on too much damage.

I should think the new owners are well chuffed knowing that it's worth a half million now it's been in the papers.

This sort of thing wouldn't be allowed to happen on Nigel's watch.
Indeed! I salute the PLA for their hard work in making the Tidal Thames such a well policed, speed restricted shambles it is for the recreational river user.
I think they may now be in competition with th EA for bulls
t rules and regulations. (now you have started me off, so will stop there)That rescue speedboat/ dayboat in Chertsey didn't look like it belonged to the EA. Bearing in mind the amount of money the EA rips off the recreational boat user with annual fees these days I would have expected them to be there in full force with rescue boats, tugs, and various other rescue vessels all paid for with my hard earned river license fee!

It's amazing what those Palestinians get up to

:weak laughter: GOBA news this month tells us that the EA have prosecuted boat owners up to £1,000 for not having a licence - but still they cannot remove the wrecks or clear weed when needed or generally maintain the navigation. Water levels go up and down like a tart's knickers. EA is a typical local government pile of cack; lots of people sitting in offices talking b
ks and eating biscuits. I'd sack them all and let the Cam Conservators take over.m0ssy said:

That of course though is fair enough. Too little of what is paid in fees by waterbourne vessels goes back into services for them.Simpo Two said:

I sometimes think you should just get off the fence and say what you really think.

The Broads Authority are spookily similar in being a shower of s
te incapable of organising a piss-up in a brewery.
te incapable of organising a piss-up in a brewery. The EA are useless at anything but collecting money from the people using the River and then failing to spend any of it on the River !!
In this case however the Launch should not have been out, the River was on Red alert and I think that any insurance company would be unlilkey to pay out if a claim was going to be made.

If a launch can't go out in a 4-6 knot current how on earth does anything cope at sea?
Well , there are no narrow bridges to pass through, consequently no panic when you realise you are not going to clear it and as a result throttle down which allows the stream to catch your bow and swing you against the buttress ! In this case the launch only suffered a couple of scuffs and a red faced skipper , anything smaller could have easily gone over and lives lost .Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
