How genuine do you think this is; response to PH ad
Discussion
A fellow PHer has just placed their car for sale in the classifieds on here. I won't paste a link as this is not a vieled attempt to plug the car.
A couple of hours after the ad went live, he received a email through PH asking if the car was still for sale and could it be picked up? To which he replied yes & yes.
This is the response he then got:
"Thanks for the mail, i don't have the chance to come and see the car due to the nature of my job as marine engineer, but i want to buy this car for son and i have pick up agent that will come and pick up the car at your door step after payment has been made for the car,i will be paying via paypal or via bank transfer for the car.
So you can get back to me with your paypal mail id or bank details for the payment.
Thanks"
As yet, he has not responded. The car in qustion is for less than £2k and is probably priced at the lower end of that particular models price range. And it's not a particually rare or special car, and there are plenty of others for sale.
Again, this is not a plug for the sale of the car.
Does anyone think this 'buyer' is remotely genuine?

Excuse my ignorance, but if the offshore engineer had the guy's Paypal details, what could he do with it anyway?
Surely everytime you buy something off Ebay you have given the seller your Paypal details?

They use a stolen paypal or bank account to pay for the car about 10 minutes before collection. Then take the car away before it's noticed and cancelled.Surely everytime you buy something off Ebay you have given the seller your Paypal details?

Sometimes they will even pay £100 more on paypal and ask you to give the balance to the car collector.
With a paypall purchase through ebay there's protection, but outside of ebay it's just a generic payment service.
I replied saying cash only and they replied with some story that they don't have cash as just moved here from the state, spelling is good but English isn't
Definety something not right with it and and i told them if they cant do cash they shouldn't contact me again
Had no reply to that
I would stay well clear
