I ended up with Falken ze-912 on my BMW E34 barge. I nearly bought the Bax 2 on the strength of their excellent reviews but the 'tried and trusted' nature of the falkens won me over in the end. The Kumhos and Nexens weren't available in my size but they're both bang up to date and quite acclaimed.

Put 15K on the pair of Kuhmo's on the front of the octavia (scout) with plenty of meat left in them, ride was fine as was the grip - would have them again.

Good value for money...

Kumhos beginning with 'KU' are supposed to be good. The 'KH' ones are supposed to be standard nasty budgets.

I have Maxxis MAZ1 Victra on my Z4.

Little bit slippery for the first 500 miles or so, but after that I can't complain.

I have Kuhmo ku31s on my Focus in 205/50 16 and the only complaint I can have about them is that they are a tad noisy. Grip wise they are great for the money, and they also wear well.

Ive got them on my 335d and had them on a Celica.
They are noisy on certain road surfaces, sometimes droning like a wheel bearing. Most tyres with this V pattern do.
On the plus side they give real good grip wet and dry.Ive had a few cars with the Falken 912 on, and there pretty good but the Maxxis do grip better.

Out of that list the Kumho's, everything else is very nasty (It's the FK Falkens people rave about though frankly they are probably the most over-rated tyre on the internet). Why just those? Surely there must be others available.

with nexen i wouldn't go for N6000, go for N8000 if they are available in your size, they are much better and are slightly more expensive

I would avoid the Falken ZE range, very poor in the wet and only average in the dry when compared to other mid range tyres.

Falken ZE are the poor relation and not to be mistaken for the FKs.
I've heard loads of good things about the Maxxis MAZ1 - and they're great value.

Better than that is the stupidly named Nexen n.blue ECO, which is new and pretty well regarded in terms of wet grip.

Tyre recommendations- you get so many different responses they are pointless!

I've been caught in some really nasty weather recently and thought the Falkens performed well, nothing unpredictable or dangerous.

None of the above. Uniroyal Rainsport 2s or Rain Experts, according to the size you need. Same price as the Falkens based on a quick check of 205/55 R16s and a cracking all round tyre.

Well, not quite - more like people need to stop posting their experiences without posting the car and size fitted!

Most tyres, unsurprisingly, work brilliantly with some loads and in some sizes, but less so in others. Commenting without saying what you used the tyre on just muddies the waters..

I should have added - depends on the car. I had the ZE912 on my Vauxhall Omega V6 - they were appalling, had to tip toe around in the wet and the back end would step out on roundabouts even in the dry.

They may suit other cars better. Take the FK452 for example. Brilliant on my TVR and my Golf MK4 but only average on the omega. And the ZE's were just scary. Conti SC3's however were stunning on the Omega.

I've had Falkens and Kumhos on the Audi and whilst they're both as good as each other the Falkens seem to wear out ALOT quicker. Managed 40k on Kumhos
