It got me thinking. Considering what he achieved at AM, and his other businesses, his interesting hobbies with cars, racing, vintage aircraft, friends in low places etc, the highs and lows of AM, I reckon it's about time someone wrote a biog. Surely it's a great story, even for non-PHers...

I remember many years ago seeing a TV documentary about Mr Gauntlett and Aston Martin and thought if ever there was an ideal name for the Chairman of AM - Victor Gauntlett was perfect (Ulrich Bez?)- he also appeared to have the personality to match - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1426321...
It's been a while since I sat in the AML boardroom with VG and he signed my apprenticeship papers over a long chat with my parents and two bottles of sherry!
One other solid memory was seeing his green Vantage Zagato exit Newport Pagnell high street one lunch time fully lit with him grinning like a manic over the steering wheel as we stood by the roadside and applauded.
RIP Victor. A true great!

I wear a silk hankerchief (edges all hand stiched) in my top pocket and put product on my hair every morning..........does that make me a top bloke ?;-)
