Hello there!

I pushed for this forum as I have to keep doing searches for Australia to see who is from there!

Hopefully we can get a few more people on here to discuss cars etc!

G'day

Wondered when we might get something for us here - nice one.

So, the peliminaries... who the hell are we? I'm a bloke who forgot to get back on the plane and just sorta stayed for a bit. Nice island you got here, but don't get me started on utes...

So do you live in Australia permanently?

PS. Why the gripe with Utes?

Done the Bathurst thing...

And I love to watch the Ute racing.

Hope your forum goes from strength to strength...

Live here for a while now, kinda used to the place.

As for utes, really just not my thang, but I understand why some people like them.

Slough
Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!
It isn't fit for humans now,
There isn't grass to graze a cow.
Swarm over, Death!

Come, bombs and blow to smithereens
Those air -conditioned, bright canteens,
Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans,
Tinned minds, tinned breath.

Mess up the mess they call a town-
A house for ninety-seven down
And once a week a half a crown
For twenty years.

And get that man with double chin
Who'll always cheat and always win,
Who washes his repulsive skin
In women's tears:

And smash his desk of polished oak
And smash his hands so used to stroke
And stop his boring dirty joke
And make him yell.

But spare the bald young clerks who add
The profits of the stinking cad;
It's not their fault that they are mad,
They've tasted Hell.

It's not their fault they do not know
The birdsong from the radio,
It's not their fault they often go
To Maidenhead

And talk of sport and makes of cars
In various bogus-Tudor bars
And daren't look up and see the stars
But belch instead.

In labour-saving homes, with care
Their wives frizz out peroxide hair
And dry it in synthetic air
And paint their nails.

Come, friendly bombs and fall on Slough
To get it ready for the plough.
The cabbages are coming now;
The earth exhales.

John Betjeman wrote that in 1937...

How queer.

well some may know me from other sections of PH and Gazboy and I have exchanged pleasantries.

I live in the capital of New Zealand, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast

...f***ing Kiwis everywhere, easy to spot, short arms long pockets

I live on the canals and am just waiting for the arm to heal so I can go test some Ferraris but I have just to make my mind up whether to keep the 328 from Sydney or trade for a 348 that a mate is selling.

I got invited to PH by 456MGT in the Ferrari section and had such a laugh that I've stayed for some time now and have almost learnt to avoid the highly political threads.

Utes are mostly used by the tradesman brigade but there is a strong hard core that just like them for the image

There are few TVRs here due to the fact that the one dealer in Melbourne that was importing them was a shady character and the service backup was none existant.

Most of the "fast" drivers here have Holden or Ford hotrods that shift some serious times over the quarter but are basically point and squirt and handle the rough stuff very badly, they will last forever but their handling is crap but don't tell them that as they react as badly as any redneck.

We get stiffed on the price of cars and our speed limits are ludicrous for a country the size of ours and the distances we have to travel so we do have a laugh when you guys have a bleat about the scameras as we have been reamed for years and they don't even put the scameras at blackspots, just spots where they make the most money (surprise surprise)

However, today is a nice 25 degrees celcius, no clouds in the sky and I've just taken the first dip in my pool (a bit brisk) to get some of the cobwebs out of the scuba gear for the coming summer season... the girls are starting to wear those skimpy skirts and loose tops and the tops are coming down on the convertibles so all is well with the world

Sydney - Northern Beaches - Manly, Queenscliff, Harbord, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Colloroy, etc, etc. Get to catch the ferry to work every day from Manly, cos the traffic can be sh!thouse at peak times, and its generally a very nice place to be.

Hi there!

I'm in Adelaide, but don't have a ute. Taily b*ggers, and best left to the Bachelor & Spinster Ball boys for Bundy-fuelled circle work.

Interesting to see one in the Yook, though. I thought they only got fast Holden sedans.

Used to have a series of V8 Commodores in various states of tune. Finally found something different to satisfy my terminal V8 fetish, but with a lid that comes off, has an exhaust note to die for, and isn't American.

If any of you ex-pats are ever down this way, please bring your toys along and I'll treat you to an automotive pommy taste of home.

Cheers
MSJ
