Hallo,

For a long time I have been a lurker on PH, but now I have bought a new toy I thought I'd start posting...

I picked up a 2008 Space Grey E92 M3 manual with fox red interior from Trevor Jones Car Company in beautiful Slough on Friday evening. Since then I've spent a small fortune on fuel, but had many hours of pleasure... I'm in love!

I'm going to upgrade the Angel eyes to get a nice xenon temperature white, and am thinking about the m0bridge solution for bluetooth and audio... I have no plans for performance related mods currently - there seems to be plenty of oomph in both the "go" and the "stop" departments smile, but after a while such shiny things can be tempting.

I would highly recommend the dealer - Very attentive, open and helpful - even after he got my cash!

It's a bit of a change from my old motor, which I was seriously missing until I got the M3...

congrats! i also am a new recent owner of the E92 m3, and loving the car. Can have a blast or put the kids in and go for a weekend cruise, its an awesome car. The engine is a peach, money was not a big factor in the purchase, chose over an F10 m5 as its a weekend car and for that brief a lot more fun smile

I wonder how many people would choose an E92 M3 over an F10 M5, even for a weekend car?

That's a genuine question by the way!

I had the pleasure of an F10 last weekend (500 miles) and was gobsmacked by it.

The M3 is magnificent, but I could only ever take one over an M5 for financial reasons.

here is another angle - the M5 will not fit in my garage - the M3 will, so it had to be the M3 for me smile

I chose an M3 over an E60 M5 as I didn't want a flappy paddle gearbox. HTH ;-)

The options i discounted were Panamera (styling), Maserati GT (hugely stylish, great noise, disappointing to drive), Nissan GTR (too extreme for the family!), F10 M5 (less fun IMO) and 911 2S (991) too small. The M5 is a superb car - no question - but for me the M3 is more fun and closer to being a genuine 4 seater sports car vs the 911s very limited rear seats. The M5 hides its weight well, but not completely, and for b roads the M3 is more fun. If i lived in Germany would no doubt go for the M5.

The M3 engine is a real joy, lighter better handling chassis and that induction noise are non-financial reasons to choose an M3 over the M5.

I have a similar dilemma.....it's a very tight fit and wouldn't fancy going through the anguish every time I enter or leave!

Well done OP! - they are great cars - especially manual and fox red trim! You will not get bored of that lovely engine. Around the lanes it is a very accomplished and not too big and gives you the fun of changing gear...not like the lardy M5's biggrin <i'll qualify this by saying that although i would not switch my 3 for a 5 - i was gobsmacked by the grunt of the F10 M5 vs GTR skyline video on youtube and the fact it is probably better on juice than a 3!>

'Juice' is pretty well the same for E9X M3 and F10 M5, despite what official figures say.

I would say the M3 is more fun but the M5 more grown up and definitely much faster.

To the OP, get some pictures up - sounds like a good colour combo.

Fair point! I have been too busy driving it so far but I'll get it clean and take some photos when I get a chance.

The dealer dropped round the number plate holder today (the previous owner had a short personalised plate so had removed the holder) and I think it improves the front a bit. I also replaced the M3 badge and the BMW roundel on the boot lid today as they were both a little scruffy. That roundel is a pain in the ars£ to remove, but some patience with a hairdryer and with a push on the lugs from behind I managed to get it off with the car unscathed... Boot liner arrived, and new mats on their way. Must stop spending money on trinkets, I need it for fuel biggrin

Taking it to the local BMW dealer tomorrow to get the security s/w fix (OBD key clone problem) so I can feel a bit happier about leaving it on the road. I suspect it is the last time I will go to a dealer.. I'm looking for a good indie around the Slough/Maidenhead/Marlow/High Wycombe area. Trevor (who sold me the car) recommended Fix Autos in Slough, but I'm keen to get opinions from anyone in the area.

Thanks

Olly.

Damn you... I saw your exact car advertised by Trevor too and was going to make him an offer for it there and then as it is exactly the spec that I was after, only for him to inform me that someone else (you, it seems!) beat me to it..!!

Lovely lovely car though - enjoy it biggrin

I'm waiting for him to call me back when he gets something similar in again... driving

Congratulations, I have one on order and have to wait until March. To say I am a giddy child would be a understatement.
