due to the heat from underweight the bonnet i was thinking of getting the manifolds wrapped.
i dont read a lot about this so was wondering if that is a good idea or not?

I've always been told that wrapping could 'shift' the heat problem more to the exhausts...

That being said, on my supercharged engine the manifolds were Zircotec coated. Should have similar effects...

Best way to reduce heat is to de-cat, if allowed in Holland... then wrap manifolds, and if you can all the way from the de-cat to the end cans...

Added bonus - flames out the back biggrin

now you make me wonder what the problem could be if that "heat problem" would move to the exhausts.
at this moment i have the impression that the heat under the bonnet is more or less just ok.

but i have had 1 bubble under the paint that after cooling dissapeared but i think that means already that is is getting very hot

de-cat is not allowed frown
but if the cats are back for the Dutch MOT, guess no one would find out.
a full wrap would be very difficult but i guess full wrap with cats would be not a good idea wink

but what would be the problem/risk when the heat would shift to the exhaust, when only the manifold would be wrapped (with and without the cats)?

TVR Power wrapped tne manifolds on my Tuscan S as part of a rebuild. Cats left in and standard exhaust. Dom seemed to think it would be OK and no problems so far.

happy to hear so smile
do you have the impression that the heat from underneath the bonnet is better?

The problem that could occur: Warmer feet smile (well, joking, but if you would stop the wrapping after the manifolds merge, it would get hotter there, as that's where the heat will be able to escape. So as mentioned a bit above, do it all the way from manifold to end of the exhaust wink

Know what you mean about the bubble though, from memory my Tuscan did it as well after a spirited drive...

warmer feet smile)) think i would have the get the manifolds of my Cerb done as well in that case smile
Cerbs have that special TVR ventilation systems. So very climatized feet in the winter wink

So actually all in all best would be a full wrap, but a manifold only wrap would not be bad, a full would just be better (even with cats in).
If i am right with this, i have to see what could be done.

thank you very much

I have wrapped mine all the way to the cans. I have had no adverse affects, but I do get flames biggrin

I never suffered from heat sink into the cabin before or after, and there seems to be no problem where the wrap ends.
