Hi.
I'm a new boy and this is my first post. I have been a Pistonheads fan for years and sold my last Porsche from the Classifieds, before buying my 991.
Just wanted to get other 991 owners experiences of these two 991 issues. Recalls and alarm problems.

Hello and welcome,

You might need to be a bit more specific.

What recalls, and what problems are you having with the alarm ?

I've had neither yet..... What more do I have to look forward to ?

Hi TryHarder
As for the recalls. Have had fuel line work done, software upgrades. Body work changes at front for possible water ingress and some aircon pipe redirecting. There were also some parts changed. Not too sure what parts or for what reason.
The alarm issue. The Carrera 991 S, has Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS) has a transmitter which communicates with the Cobra tracking company. This had stopped transmitting and my car had to be put on a low loader and taken back to Porsche to be fixed. At the time I did not know the transmitter had stopped [the light was still flashing on the transmitter] but this had shut the car down. Even after phoning Cobra and asking them to turn the system off the car would not start. Two new transmitters later the car is now running very well.
I must say I love the car it’s the best Porsche I have ever owned . The car always feels special.

Certainly seems to be the case with Porsche over the last decade or so.

Ah, oh dear sorry to hear all that, my car is a MY2013 so hopefully most of what you described is all ok, I've had a different problem, the dead fuel flap solenoid, lets hope you don't get that !!

I agree with the love affair, it is very special in so many ways smile

I had lots of squeaks and rattles coming from the sunroof the day I drove out of the showroom. This was eventually fixed after a couple of visits to the OPC. A few months later my fuel flap solenoid died on me whilst visiting friends in Somerset. Again sorted out after a couple of visits to my OPC!

Apart from that everything has been fantastic, definitely the best car I've ever owned. It really does get better and better.

I had a recall for the boot seal and a software upgrade at the same time. On delivery I had an alarm problem but it was something to do with activating the tracker from memory, hope this helps. I still cannot believe how capable the 991 is as an all round nut job.
