company fuel card and paying for private mileage.
Discussion
My wife has started a new job and has been issued with a company fuel card, obviously all business mileage will be paid for by company and she is being charged 12p per mile private use.
Is this the most efficient use of a fuel card?
My man maths would suggest that the car should be no more than 10p per mile, as she is doing 500 miles per week in commuting this will soon add up.
The only plus side i can see is that being charged per mile means there is no need to wory about economy, her car however should achieve 60+mpg so there is not a great deal of opportunity for lead footed fun!

Thats the same as I get, company pays all the fuel then I submit a form each month with all business mileage on it, anything left they charge me 12p per mile on a 1.6D Passat estate ( real rocket ship that is with a boot full of tools ). Its cheaper for me than paying tax for private mileage. It costs me about 30 to 45 a month. Is this the most efficient use of a fuel card?

I agree with your maths mine should not cost 12p in fuel but it is set by the government. I think they can charge you less but their not likely to. Still works out pretty cheap as I don't pay for tyres or servicing.
As for the lead footed fun, this car needs a lead foot just to make it go
