i need a replacement cambelt on my 114 bhp 1993 1.6

other than the waterpump, is there anything else i should be considering?

the actual cost of fitting the replacement cambelt is cheapest at my local mazda main dealer (£119), and they say that they have never known the tensioner, idlerer or spring needing replacement
however , the main dealer cost for the tensioner (£72) and idler (£32) , is substancially higher than what the independents are charging

does this suggest that the main dealer parts are of a higher quality ?,and would it be safer to go with them?

has any one had any experience of the quality of work done by mx5 heaven?

thank-you

Might as well do the cam cover gasket and the cam oil seals as well as it'll all be taken off or have access to it during the operation.

Genuine dealer parts are normally more expensive than aftermarket. How about supply the parts to the dealer - seems a good price at £119 !!

Autolink have the 2 pulleys listed at under £15 each.

They're made of metal so they shouldn't break up like plastic ones on other cars, I've never swapped mine despite doing the cambelt a couple of times and having the car for a good few years, I just check to make sure they spin smoothly with no notchiness.

When I did my cambelt and pump I replaced the cam angle sensor o-ring, crankshaft front oil seal, camshaft oil seals and the cam cover gasket. Well worth doing whilst you have thing apart already. smile

I've just picked up waterpump, cambelt, tensioner, idler, cam cover gasket, CAS O ring, thermostat gasket for £65 including vat. The prices they are charging are ridiculous!
