Just got the renewal quote from my specialist insurer who I have used for the last few years. All things being equal, they increase the premium by 22%. It this what's going on out there or is it worth to change providers. Any recent experience?

Mine actually fell this year for the second or third year in a row. www.classicline.co.uk

Classic insurance is no different than any other insurance come renewal time, shop around ........ I managed to get a reduction from my current insurer one year just by saying I thought the renewal was too much of an increase so they did it the same as the previous years cover .

One thing that has taken me 4 years to figure out was that you can earn no claims discount on a classic policy. Previous insurers had 'informed' (I would like to call it something stronger!), that I cant earn any no claims on a classic policy, so I therefor have to pay the full premium every year.
Only a few companies allow you to accrue NCD though and you have to read the small print/ask them to confirm they do. I know Adrian Flux and Performance Direct do. This is now seeing my premiums coming down from £600 to £500 and now £380 - long may it continue.
Performance Direct, by the way, came out cheaper for me on every search this year and are nice to deal with.

It does seem a tactic that some employ - hoping you'll just cough instead of dealing with the fag of shopping around no doubt!

A couple years ago my 'specialist' insurer informed me mine was going up to £1200 from £600 because 'they had a lot of claims to pay out this year'

Well excuse me if that isn't your f@cking job I pretty much told them .

Switched to MSM 2 years ago (who have been great BTW - policy will only go up by £63 when I told them of all the mods I was planning!

Funny thing is I had a letter through on my renewal date this year from said 'specialist insurer' with a better deal than my current MSM policy but I'm a man of principle so they can p155 off - they had their chance!
