Why are these shocks rated so badly ? i thought they were a quality product but from what i am reading everybody hates them. They are fitted as standard to the s special i have just bought and seem fine so far, bit on the firm side but no problems otherwise.

They are just a lot firmer than standards units, I guess on the crap roads we seem to have now everywhere it seems so much worse.

I fitted a second-hand set I bought on fleabay and have been very pleased with them.
OK they are firm and rattle your teeth a bit until you've done a few miles and got used to them.
Having used the car for track-days, Autosolos and Alpine passes in the last year I reckon they are not far off a set of decent adjustables.
The only mod in the pipeline is a set of longitudinal chassis braces to reduce scuttle shake.
Mind you the other car is Se7en with re-valved adjustables, rose jointed front suspension and poly bushed live rear axle so that is firm!
Cheers, Pewe.

From what I've read, the shocks are too stiff while the springs are too soft so when cornering they pretty much just sit on the bump-stops which is far from ideal.
