Hi,

Am trying to travel from Milan to Edinburgh via sleeper train, Eurostar, and then National rail. Does anyone have any advice on how to book this in the easiest and least painful way possible? Am contemplating asking a travel agent... not sure if this is the best idea, but does anyone know of a good travel agent if i do go down that route (please excuse the unintentional pun!)

thanks all.

Try www.raileurope.co.uk

the man in seat 61 is also an excellent resource www.seat61.com

I've not done that entire journey, but going via Munich-Innsbruck-Verona takes in some stunning scenery, with possibilities for overnight stays. It's also worth jumping off the train at Desenzano Del Garda (between Milan and Verona) getting the short boat to Sirmione - touristy, but pretty.

Easy and cheap way - use www.bahn.de for online booking.

Milan - Munich €59 for a berth in a couchette, €144 for single occupancy sleeper.

Munich - London, daytime trains arrives 16:03 €109 2nd €129 1st

All done from bahn.de

Then sleeper from Euston - Edinburgh on Scotrail.

Although it's probably easiest to take a daytime TGV from Milan to Paris, then Eurostar, then sleeper to Edinburgh.

Fly?

Easyjet fly 3 - 4 times a week for around 50 euro.
