Having watched the video on Look North a few times, where they only showed the hard braking when he spotted the police camera, it looked like a good straight piece of road with good clearance to the bikes. So, ok 113mph was a little excessive when there are so many witnesses, but a 6 month ban?

At least the magistrates agreed that it was not "dangerous".

Surprised he said that it wasn't dangerous. i wouldn't have said the speed was the issue..... More the dodgy swerve into the verge then the lockup.

Nasty bit of driving!

6m is probably a totting up ban.

I've never seen a camera van on that road. I'd better watch out.

Careless driving is 3 - 9 points or discretionary ban. I'm with agtlaw, totting up ban is more plausible explanation unless anyone knows otherwise?

I think 6 months is too lenient! (Sp?)

He was doing over 100 on a single carriageway road whilst overtaking a line of bikers with pedestrians on the side of the road and braking so hard he locked up and swerved so clearly not in full control.

If it was a GTR would you be asking for a reduced ban and saying it was too harsh?

Goose, I had read that. It is more likely to be a totting up ban than a ban for the offence.

From bbc website http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/england/lincolnshire

Mr Judd, who had been driving home from Skegness, was found guilty of carless driving and speeding.

Carless driving - haha tricky!

The underperforming was probably MAF sensor which put on his psm light and switched the system off allowing the lock-up.......

The bikers all need a chat for bunching up imo - no distance between them at all and all in line....

eek

I should think he'd have got a much lesser consequence had he simply completed the overtake and not done any braking.

As for the lock up, a faulty MAF is actually a plausible explanation!

The video looks rather sped up to me, plus there is going to be a certain amount of foreshortening effect from the camera. Still, probably not the brightest move ever made extra special by the clouds of smoke from the lock up.

This. Comically sped up. And surely the bikers are keeping up with him?

I think he was lucky to get away with only 6 months. I thought that it was automatically 12 months if caught doing more than 100mph?

Whatever caused that swerve under braking was the worst part about that IMHO.

Looks like there was loads of visibility and plenty of width on the road.

Seemed a case of staying on the opposite carriageway for the shortest amount of time while overtaking rather than speeding for the sake of it (not that that probably has any bearing to the law, but its a reasonable argument from logic).

Bikers looked too close together as well.
