Not the one you can get away with 200mph on in your Ferrari, but the one with the highest average traffic speed?

I've always held it to be the M40, but had a shock on the M27 yesterday afternoon, at max leptons in the other half's 1.3 Yaris I was just about keeping up!

Yes I know it's a 1.3 Yaris but be real, we all know they can crack the ton with a motorway length run-up and no motorway in the uk has its average speed above a ton.

I've always found the M40 to be the fastest part of my run from Brighton to Glasgow .... and back.

Same here, M40 gets my vote.

The road most capable of taking high speeds would be either the M6(T) or the A74(M), but as I got caught speeding on the latter in 2011, I'll shut up about that...

M45 due to the fact that there's loads of old bill on the M6 toll.

The M45 also has less traffic

No proving to your mates at 17 that your 1.3 Escort WILL do 87mph !

Another one here saying the M45, it has to be the quietest motorway in the UK by far.

The M69 is pretty empty most of the time. The amount of very high speed C classes in the outside lane doing well over a ton on a pretty empty motorway has to be seen to be believed!eek

Is the M45 still empty?

Probably 15 years since I travelled on it, lucky to see another couple of cars.

Perhaps clubs could arrange trips to go for a drive on it, but then it would get busy.

A74(M).
Once past Hamilton going south it's quiet enough to potentially go very quickly. Camera vans regularly sit near Lockerbie though.

Yep, supposed to be finished Xmas time. There's been that much flooding it's like a nature reserve most of the time.

Close to home the M55 late night is pretty good for high speed. Straight and rarely policed. Lots of people nudging a lepton.
