le mans 2013 lone ranger

Hi all!
I need some expert advice on my le mans booking for 2013. I'm 18 and would be going by myself. Because I'm from the mighty northern Ireland my wee saxo could not get insured abroad because it likes breaking down at the worst possible times. Can I have advice on what would be the best campsite and ticket entry. I'm planning to fly over to Paris and get the train then hike, and I dont mind walking cause I'm young. Thanks for any advice guys!

There must be some PHers from your local area with a empty seat in the their car, sure they would take a stowaway if you chipped in for fuel. Ask in the regional section of the forum.

And if you do still end up flying etc, the tram will take you direct from LM Rail Station to the circuit so no need to walk. Hope you have a great time.

As Timbo said, no need to walk, I flew in from Australia & the public transport to get to the circuit is second to none.

The tram stops outside the train station (to the right as you exit) & takes you to the Antares stop (end of the line) which is near the Houx campsites & the eastern entrance to the circuit.

Also the big supermarket Carrefour (it shall provide everything you need) is on the same tram line, though the walk from the track to the supermarket is quite pleasant in the morning after a night of excess.

You will meet plenty of great people as well & the atmosphere all week is brilliant.

Go on to Beermountain.com, they have a truck load of random info about LM

I went by my own in 2010 but I did know most of the people on the campsite I went to that year, driving down alone is not a problem, being there alone is not a problem as you soon mingle with everyone.

Andy, we might just be your golden ticket. I live in Greek islands & am meeting my mate (originally from Belfast) in Paris (probably Charles De Gualle) on the Thursday eve & we're renting a car & driving down to Le Mans, we will also leave there very early Monday morning to drive to Paris (Maybe Sunday night depending on what flights I can get back to Greece)

If you want to chip in for a bit of petrol mate & maybe a bit towards the car (only if you can afford it) you can ride with us buddy. You & the mad paddy can do your Belfast possy bit!!

Message me if you are up for it, we're camping in Houx by the way.

That raises an interesting question... If you simply walk on to the Houx Annex or Karting Nord campsites with a tent and a rucksack can you find an unnumbered pitch and set up camp without a ticket? The permit is a permit to park, not a permit to pitch a tent, yes?

If you walk into an undefined pitch site, like Beausejour, then I would say it is very possible.
If the pitches are numbered, then sooner or later their rightful owners will turn up and move you on.
However, is it really worth pinching a bit of ground when the sites are so cheap.
Some sites have specific 30mtr pitches for groups without vehicles.
