996 turbo starting with auxilliary battery
Discussion
Need to start the car using an "emergency starter battery" (12v)
OPC says to connect it to my battery. The jump-start procedure (I know it isn't "really" a jump-start, well not from another vehicle) in my owners manual describes connecting the donor battery to the connectors in the engine bay.
Can I cause any harm to elertrical system connecting to my (half dead) battery. . . if so, WTF are OPC on about ?

Started from the front, no probs. Battery had gone flat after 14 days parked in a garage at temperatures no worse than 0c. Prior to that driven for 90min in daylight & it was a NEW replacement for another battery that had died.
Just enough juice to start it & I drove for 30 min at night. Subsequent to that not enough power to turn it over.
OPC checked Batt & Alternator, both OK , said "2 weeks was a little too long to leave it " FFS, so , if you go on holiday don't take your Pork to the airport, take a taxi instead.
Given that a Porsche is a 2nd car (toy) for many, and therefore not in daily use, why do Porsche insist on fitting chocolate teapot batteries when Bosch make a much superior product at the same (or less) price.
I will buy another Bosch & have offered OPC my (free) replacement Batt back in return for a half hour test in the nice 991C4SPDK Demo they have (well, I thought it was a generous offer on my part
